Judith Pruess-Mellow

Judith is currently a semi-retired ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, where she specializes in pastoral care and older adult ministry. She is active at San Dieguito UMC in Encinitas. A former hospice chaplain from the  Sacramento/Roseville area, she volunteers for Lightbridge Hospice in San Diego.

Over the years Judith has offered individual spiritual direction, led several contemplative prayer groups and offered many contemplative retreats on topics like: “Yearning for God” and “Practicing the Presence of God”. She moved to North County San Diego in December 2014 from Northern California where she took part in many spiritual director events.

Judith first learned about spiritual direction at Pendle Hill Quaker Center near Philadelphia, PA. When she returned to the Bay Area in 1993, she began receiving regular spiritual direction. She saw great value in how it brought her closer to God and in helping her realize how God was working in her life.

In 1994, she began spiritual direction training at Mercy Center Burlingame completing 2 of their 3 year program. After receiving a Masters of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion in 1999, she went on to  complete her spiritual director’s training program through Bread of Life Center in Davis, CA

Personally, she enjoys gardening, walking on or near the beach, and doing SoulCollage workshops.
