I am 63 years old. My father was a minister in the Disciples of Christ Church, which is the church I grew up in. I was taught from the beginning about a loving, caring, personal God who was available to me at all times and no matter where I was, and to whom I could talk at any time. God did not judge me, but loved me unconditionally. It was a wonderful religious/spiritual foundation, for which I have always been grateful.
At age 12, my two brothers and I went with my mother to live in Guanajuato, Mexico. There, I attended a Roman Catholic secondary school for girls. This also was a very positive experience (in most ways) for me and I became familiar with the beliefs of the RC Church. I studied at the Universidad de Guanajuato and the Universite de Neuchatel in Switzerland.
I felt called to be a spiritual director through a very powerful personal experience (around 1997) and began my studies to become a spiritual director in 2001 at USD, graduating in 2003. I have been doing individual spiritual direction since then on an ongoing basis, in both Spanish and English. I have been attending the Episcopal church since 1989, but have done spiritual direction with people of various denominations.
I feel that for me, spiritual direction is truly a calling and I love sharing people’s spiritual journeys with them through this work.
